Our Story

In 1970, Edmonton had very few seniors’ homes and there was an obvious gap in services for the older population. A group of individuals were concerned about the well-being of their aging parents. They saw an opportunity and felt a call to make a difference not only for their parents, but also for Edmontonians. What started as an idea over coffee has grown into six locations in Alberta, serving over 1,000 seniors and other individuals.

Our six locations provide living options for residents with a full spectrum of care, including Independent Living, CCH-Type B (formerly supportive living/SL4), CCH-Type B Secure (formerly SL4D), CCH-Type A (formerly long term care and complex care), and Home and Community Care Type 2.

Types of Care

Shepherd’s Care Foundation is a mission driven, faith-based, not-for-profit organization providing quality care and accommodations to more than 1000 residents in Calgary, Edmonton and Barrhead. Our six locations provide living options for residents with a full spectrum of care, including Independent Living, CCH-Type B (formerly supportive living/SL4), CCH-Type B Secure (formerly SL4D), CCH-Type A (formerly long term care and complex care), and Home and Community Care Type 2.

Independent living options are also offered through Shepherd's Gardens Trust.
