The safety of our residents, staff, and visitors is a top priority for us, and so I wanted to take a moment to update you on a few of the safety initiatives we’ve been working on over the past several months.
We’ve created our own safety slogan, “Safety Comes First;” we’ve rolled out a digital, points-based incentive to promote safe work habits among staff; we have administerd influenza vaccinations to reduce risk of outbreak at our sites, and we are currently working hard to renew our Certificate of Recognition with the provincial government’s Partnerships in Injury Reduction program, which, if obtained, will serve as official acknowledgement of our high safety standards.
But our campuses aren’t just a place of work; they’re also a place to live. And so, in fulfilling our mission of living life in a caring, Christian environment, Shepherd’s Care has zero-tolerance for any actions or behaviors that put others at risk, or result in abuse.
Abuse can be classified as:
- Bodily Harm
- Emotional Harm
- Financial Abuse
- Medication Abuse
- Wilfull, reckless behaviour
- Resident Abuse
- Serious Harm
- Sexual Abuse
Any incidents of these kind will result in disciplinary action and/or termination from our sites.
Safety is everyone’s business. If at any time you observe, or have reason to believe that someone in our building is being abused, tend to the victim’s safety and report the incident to the nearest supervisor right away - because at Shepherd’s Care Foundation, safety comes first.
