(March 13, 2020) The last 24 hours has seen heightened sensitivity and response to containment of the COVID-19 virus. At Shepherd’s Care Foundation, we are holding ourselves accountable to continue providing quality care and quality accommodations to our beloved residents during this pandemic crisis. As such, visitors, contractors, volunteers and staff will be screened for illness before entering any of our sites. Anyone entering our care homes must complete a disclosure form to gain access to our homes.
We are instructing all staff, volunteers and contractors who have recently traveled outside of Canada to abide by the 14 day self-quarantine rule, and to refrain from entering our homes and offices. Anyone who has traveled internationally in the past couple months and has not been tested by a physician for COVID-19 or abided by the self-quarantine rule is to err on the side of caution to avoid exposure to our residents. Corporate and administrative staff have also been instructed to limit direct contact with our residents who are immune-compromised.
Large gatherings, including our Executive Networking Luncheon, Volunteer Appreciation and 50th Anniversary Gala are being postponed. Our Mission Effectiveness department is working with our preferred venues to secure new 2020 dates for these events. At this time, resident exercise and therapeutic activities will continue.
Our Strategic Leadership Team is monitoring this worldwide situation on a daily basis. We will continue to keep you updated as new information becomes available.
