Safe Normal - June 2021
Shepherd’s Care is moving to a Safe Normal that reflects the input of our residents and families, the risk assessment of each site, and the Chief Medical Officer of Health Orders.
What is the COVID-19 situation at Shepherd’s Care?
Shepherd’s Care has not had any new COVID-19 resident cases for several months. If there are any, they will be disclosed at https://www.shepherdscare.org/covid-19/covid-19-disclosure/. We attribute this success to the vigilance of our staff and families, as well as high vaccination rates.
Our staff continue to be screened daily and wear PPE.
Are long term care and supportive living opening up with the rest of the province?
No, there will continue to be some restrictions in long term care and supportive living for the foreseeable future. We do not have details on what those will be; please check back here or with the site.
What approach is Shepherd’s Care taking to reopening?
Shepherd’s Care is bound by the orders from the Chief Medical Officer of Health. These orders mandate we provide as much freedom for our residents and families as possible, while factoring in the unique factors of each site.
Each site completes a risk assessment on a regular basis to assess the ongoing risk of COVID-19 and compliance with the CMOH orders.
What is the current visitation policy?
The visitation policy is available at https://www.shepherdscare.org/visiting-loved-ones/. Please refer back to this page.
Are visitors/volunteers/staff required to be vaccinated?
Visitors are not required to be vaccinated to enter our sites, although we strongly encourage everyone to get vaccinated.
At this time, volunteers will be required to show proof of receiving at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine in order to be on our site. Existing staff are not required to be vaccinated, however un-vaccinated staff may be required to wear enhanced PPE. All new staff will be required to be vaccinated.
Are church services back in person?
Yes, subject to capacity limits under the orders. We are broadcasting on Channel 716 as well.
Has in-person recreation programming resumed?
Yes, subject to capacity limits under the orders. We have not resumed bus activities at this time.
Are dining rooms open?
Yes, all dining rooms are open to residents. Heritage Market Grill is also open to Heritage condo residents. At this time, the dining rooms are not open to the general public.
I have additional questions.
If you have additional questions please contact the site lead or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
