Shepherd’s Care Foundation/Prince of Peace is located in Rocky View County which offers tranquil country living close to the city of Calgary. The seniors’ residence at Prince of Peace consists of 32 memory care suites and 159 studio/one-bedroom assisted living suites. The site, surrounded with views of the open prairie and the Rockies, provides a “person-centered” care, home-like environment with small groupings of private bedrooms and associated spaces in a secured therapeutic facility.  

The Opportunity – Recreation Therapist

Full Time 1.0 FTE – 77.5 hours bi-weekly

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Reporting to the Program Manager (Recreation), the Recreation Therapist is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating recreation therapy interventions for streams of care at Prince of Peace. The Recreation Therapist also acts as a resident advocate and provides support to the residents and families in an environment that promotes a state of wellness, independence and person-centered care. As a Recreation Therapist, you will ensure compliance with continuing care health service standards, accommodation standards, employment and safety-related legislation, codes, regulations, and Shepherd’s Care Foundation policies and procedures.

Consider applying if you have a recognized diploma or degree in Recreation or Therapeutic Recreation, active membership in the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA), and a valid driver’s license. A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible work experience at a supervisory or management level.

You have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills and can work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team to advocate and promote well-being for residents. Time management skills are essential as is flexibility to accommodate resident needs.
