Introducing our New Mission, Vision and Values

As we look at what lies on our horizon, we see our Foundation reaching our 50th Anniversary in April, 2020.  This is the perfect time to celebrate how far we have come, and set our sights on what the next fifty years will hold for Shepherd’s Care Foundation. Our 50th Anniversary will act as a transition point, moving us from the past and into the future. It is a time to harness our meaningful mission, our strong faith, and the significant dedication of our founders, and bring it together with a new culture of innovation, accountability, and stewardship.

50 years as an organization means there is a lot to be celebrated, and so rather than wait until April 2020, we will be marking the transition point early, beginning with an updated Mission, Vision, Values that will define who we are and steer us in the right direction for the next half-century.  That said, it is important to remember where we came from, and so we have worked with our staff, strategic leadership team and Board of Directors to develop new statements that re-define our brand.

First, our Mission Statement:

Living life in a caring, Christian environment.

Our campuses provide a space where seniors and other individuals can feel alive at any stage in their life. With daily recreation activities, social interaction, and person-centered care offered by our professional staff, we provide what our residents need to thrive. Our Christian-based approach ensures each of our residents feel safe, comfortable, and loved, no matter their situation. As Jesus cared and provided for his flock, we work to be an extension of His healing ministry, caring for everyone who walks into our home.

Second, our Vision:

To provide quality care and quality accommodations with efficient and effective administration.

This ties back to the strategic direction outlined in our previous video, where we balance our expenditures in care, accommodations, and administration to ensure we are best meeting the needs of our residents.

And third, our Values:

  • Faith
  • Person-Centered Care
  • Dignity
  • Innovation
  • Accountability
  •  Stewardship

These values derived from a set of research conducted by Dale Reesor, who surveyed a sample of our staff and managers. From the survey results, we were able to see how our individual values contribute to the bigger picture. We factored this in with our deep roots in faith and person-centered care, plus the A-LIST qualities that we now hold high (Accountability, Leadership, Integrity, Stewardship and Transparency). After considering these angles, we were able to narrow down the long list of Shepherds Care Values to six powerful and memorable terms that sum up who we are and what we represent.

We are also updating our tagline, switching out the term “Affordable” with “Innovative,” making, “Innovative, Christian, Age-in-Place Care.”

While we do offer accommodations catered to various levels of income, we cannot promise to always be more affordable than other care communities; however, publicly defining ourselves as innovative holds us accountable to become efficient, effective, and creative leaders in everything we do moving forward.

To mark this transition point and celebrate our anniversary, we are introducing a special 50th Anniversary edition logo, which you will see more of throughout the remainder of the year and into 2020. During this time, we will also be holding an ongoing series of special events and initiatives to honour Shepherd’s Care Foundation. We hope to see you and your loved ones join us in celebrating our great history and walking with us in the exciting journey ahead.

Thank you, and God Bless.
