Millwoods Care Centre is a 147-unit continuing care (Long Term Care) centre (nursing home and auxiliary hospital beds), physically linked to all of the other buildings in this campus-of-care. Admission is through an assessment by Alberta Health Services. Continuing care centres are for those individuals who require 24 hour registered nursing care. At Millwoods Care Centre, residents pay an accommodation charge which covers room and board (3 meals per day plus snacks), housekeeping, laundry and building maintenance costs. There are private and semi-private room options available and family-friendly lounges. A guest room is available for out-of-town visitors in the Shepherd's Gardens condo building next door, as well as a private bus for resident out trips.
A beautifully landscaped, wheelchair accessible courtyard is often used for barbeques and family visits. At Millwoods Care Centre, in addition to the professional health services funded through Alberta Health Services, Shepherd's Care provides Pastoral Care to all residents. There is a large German speaking community here and German church services and Bible Studies are offered. A full range of therapeutic services are available.
