Fundraising & Initiatives

Shepherd’s Care Foundation holds two signature fundraising events each year. The Annual Golf Tournament and Cake Auction are not only for a great cause, but are great opportunities to network, socialize and learn more about Shepherd’s Care.

Community giving is also something of great importance to Shepherd’s Care. Every year, staff participate in a Christmas Appeal. The Shepherd’s Care Foundation matches employees’ contributions to a selected worthwhile cause. In 2014, $3,500 was raised for local food banks in Edmonton and Barrhead.

Music Care Initiative

In Summer 2016, Shepherd’s Care Foundation piloted a project at our Kensington Campus to provide care to our residents through music. The program included drumming circles, one-on-one time spent singing, playing instruments, listening to music using ipods with residents, and group sing-alongs.

We will be launch a permanent Music Care Program in 2017 and we need your help! Find out about how you can support this Program.

If you have a heart for seniors, want to make a different or influence the future of seniors care in Alberta, consider joining the Shepherd’s Care Foundation!

The Shepherd’s Care Foundation, a not-for-profit incorporated company, consists of 50 individuals elected from sponsoring churches, who bring a variety of expertise to the organization. Fourteen of these members are elected by the Foundation members to serve on the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors acts as a governance board to oversee the operation of the organization in a sound and financially responsible manner. The Board of Directors also ensures that the highest quality of service is provided to all residents, and that SCF continuously lives out its mission and values as a caring, Christian environment for all residents, families and staff.

The root of SCF’s ongoing success is the quality of the people who constitute the Foundation membership. SCF is seeking new members to play a part in championing our vision to be the leader in providing innovative aging-in-place services with excellence

As a SCF member, you will:

  • Be expected to attend and participate in the Annual General Meeting each fall
  • Have the opportunity to elect the SCF Board of Directors
  • Be eligible to serve on SCF committees, such as Governance, Finance and Audit, and other ad hoc committees
