Recreation Assistant /Aide

Temporary - 3 months (with possibility of extension) 65 Hours Bi-weekly

While reporting to the Therapeutic Service Manger, the Recreation Therapy Attendant/Aide will utilize their skills and expertise to maximize resident participation and engagement in meaningful therapeutic activities.  The activities are uniquely designed by the Recreation Therapist to best suit the individual’s physical, social, emotional and intellectual abilities.  With passion and a genuine interest for elders, particularly those living with Dementia, along with expertise in music and art, the attendant’s role is essential in providing the best possible experience for those living in our care as delegated by the Recreation Therapist.

 Education & Experience

  • Graduation from a recognized Recreation Therapy Diploma/Certificate Program (or equivalent) is required;
  • Recent experience working with older adults is desired;
  • Experience and training in working with individuals living with dementia  is essential;
  • Experience and training in the fundamentals of music and art is an asset;
  • Effective human relations skills with a commitment to the team approach to resident care
  • Experience leading volunteers is an asset
  • Demonstrates empathy, understanding and enthusiasm in providing quality care and service for residents.
