Recreation Aide/Assistant - Summer Temporary Employment Program

Location:  Edmonton, Kensington Village Campus

Maximum of 16 weeks from May to August 2017, depending on start date, working 37.75 hours per week.

Reporting to the Recreation Manager, the Recreation Aide/Assistant assists in the planning, organization and implementation of meaningful activities and programs for fragile seniors in a not-for-profit health care facility.  Duties include 1:1 visits, promotes effective communication and cooperation with internal stakeholders and establishes good public relations with community agencies, guides and supervises volunteers, assists in the development of new programs and renewal of existing programs, creates and maintains a database of contacts and assists with inventory processes.

Requirements:

  • Energetic and compassionate with a desire to work with the elderly
  • Returning student in post secondary studies in a Therapeutic Services field (Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy)
  • Current CPR/Emergency First Aid
  • Ability to work well as a member of a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
